This section will include information on Sumo wrestling in Japan.
The first historical facts about sumo date back to the middle of the 7th century, when there was a wrestling tournament at the Emperor’s court in honor of a Korean ambassador. Since then the Emperor has annually conducted tournaments, devoted to the end of autumn field works.
